If any of the suggestions offered in the Agbeh group are unclear to you, please ask questions. A limitation of the email discussion group is that we cannot "see" the dogs you folks are describing. We also all write our descriptions in a type of shorthand. We do not intend to do so, but that may happen. As a result, some of the suggestions may not be as clear to you as we wish. Please ask questions for clarity any time you wish by writing to the Agbeh group, as a subscriber of course. The group does not accept messages from non-subscribers.

Over the years, I've brought in many dogs to foster, sometimes as many as five at one time, and oftentimes dogs who had some behavior problems. But not all the dogs did, of course. That experience has helped me to refine some techniques for the introductions. At the time I wrote this article, I'd been serving as President of Collie Humane Care, Inc. for many years. That will explain why I have taken in so many foster dogs.

An owner reported to us that her veterinarian had advised her to slap a 1 and a half year old ShihTsu when the dog snapped at her. As a consequence, the dog became very fearful of the owner. She asked for help from the Agbeh group because she was unable to catch her dog in the house to take it outdoors, and when outdoors, it was running away from her.

Comment from a reader: "I recently switched from a regular leash to one of these contraptions that goes around my waist -- a "hands-free" leash -- so that it's easier to click/treat for desired behaviors."
